1st Meeting-- Written agreement: Once the client has made the decision to commission a portrait, a written agreement is prepared. The agreement will specify the number of subjects, size, price, degree of formality, and other details. Deposit (usually 50%) of the estimated total is required to begin the work. Schedule time and location of photo session.
2nd Meeting-- Photo Session: A time frame of about 2 hours is needed to take the photos. Only those poses (usually 3) which would best translate into a painted portrait are selected by the artist to develop into small color sketches. Schedule a time (about 2 weeks later) to view the 2-3 sketches for approval.
3rd Meeting-- Color Sketches: Client approval of selected pose with choices of facial expressions. Any necessary changes are discussed for the larger painting.
4th Meeting-- Delivery: Upon completion of painting, arrangements are made for the delivery of the portrait. Remaining balance is due including cost of frame when applicable.
